experimental photos

I love the effect that the shadows have in photos. The effect provides an almost dramatic mystery effect that can give of an erie feeling depending on the light during the day and which it was taken.
When Rebecca talked about the 7 elements of photography and having it apply to out self portrait tasks, I was thinking I could use the elements composition, light, and depth.
.
This was a photo taken outside the Z block near an area of trees near the river. It was closest I could get at the time to an actual forest. I had to be careful not to capture the car park in the background, and I needed to take it in the way that made it look like I was actually in a forest.

It wasn't until after I had these pictures on the blogger that I noticed the drain lid, which kind of ruined the whole forest effect but these
 are  just experiments

I like this picture because it showed the shadows very well and It gave me ideas to think about.

This picture is another example of using shadow as well as using your surroundings to work to your advantage. Example in this photo Katarina has a stray branch in front of her. She's in the first third downwards when using the Rule of thirds.

When I position the camera to take a practice shot, I had set up the camera on a tripod and adjusted the camera  so It was at eye level to give the feeling that whomever was looking at the picture would feel like they were looking at me and the area I was in, in person. I also made it so that the trunk of the tree on the right started in the first lower third imaginary 3x3 grid.

I wanted to use the rule of thirds because it can create a feeling of balance and harmony and seems to make more sense. I want that feeling added to make the setting in my pictures seem more peaceful, settling in to the whole peaceful and green idea.

In these pictures because they're practice shots, I'm not dressed, but I do want to stick to themes of slightly gothic emo ideas, darkly dresses etc.

I have ideas of dressing in dark colours, maybe dramatic makeup, and contacts. The only reason why I'm still on the line about having to dress up so much is because I'm still not sure I want to be the main focus of my work. I haven't experiment with close up pictures, and I don't think I would like to- but I still want to have me being dressed up show, so I need to find a way to work around being able to see me in costume, but still not be the main focus, because  I still want to capture the landscapes.

When I take these photos, I know I would have to take it somewhere in the late afternoon when there's still a lot of light. I would have to position the camera in a way that doesn't  show the image still dark, but I still want it to look like it was taken somewhere around twilight.
